Cat Sitting in Dubai: What to Expect from a Home Visit
If you’ve never used a professional cat sitter before, you might be wondering what actually happens when someone comes to your home. Here’s exactly what a typical visit with The Velvet Nest looks like.
Before the first visit
Everything starts with a Meet & Greet. I come to your home, meet your cat in its own space, and take note of everything that matters: favourite spots, food preferences, any quirks, medication schedules, and how it reacts to a new person.
This is also when we agree on access (your key, a smart lock code, or a lockbox) and set up your emergency vet contact.
What happens during each visit
Every visit lasts a minimum of 45 minutes and follows the same routine:
- Fresh food and water, prepared exactly the way your cat likes it
- Litter box cleaned and refreshed
- Health check: I observe eating, drinking, behaviour, and mood closely
- Playtime and enrichment, tailored to your cat’s personality and energy level
- Medication if needed (chronic conditions like asthma are included as standard)
- Brushing or nail trimming, on request
- General home care: blinds adjusted, lights on timers, post collected
Your WhatsApp update
After every single visit, you receive a WhatsApp message with a photo of your cat and a short note on how it’s doing. No app to download, no portal to check. It lands directly in your chat.
The goal is simple: you should never have to wonder how your cat is doing.
Why home visits work better for cats
Cats are territorial. Moving them to a boarding facility means stripping away everything familiar: their scent markers, their favourite window, their safe hiding spots. Most cats don’t “adjust” to boarding. They just go quiet.
A home visit keeps your cat exactly where it feels safest. Same smells, same sounds, same routine. The only difference is that someone who genuinely cares is there, making sure everything is exactly right.
